Need Supplies for Your Frankie Macrame Chair Garland?
The Middle Aisle is committed to sourcing and working with local manufacturers to make a rope that is perfect for Macrame. Macrame rope needs to be soft enough to work but strong and flexible so that knots are even and tight.
Macrame wall hangings can often need a soft rope that unravels easily so you can create long tassels and fringe to finish your piece off. Macrame plant hangers need a strong rope to support the weight of its plant friend!
We recommend using a Sash Cord for Macrame plant hangers, depending on the size of your finished piece you’ll need a different thickness of rope. If you would like to learn how to make a plant hanger make sure you check out our Melbourne Macrame Workshops page.
Macrame wall hangings can be made with either a sash cord or a thick twisted cotton rope. The thick twisted cord is excellent for achieving a soft textured finished piece with minimal effort to create long thick brushed out fringe. Sash cord will give you a more defined texture and is much more difficult to fray but the result is divine!
If you have any questions about what rope will be best for your next project don’t hesitate to get in touch! Macrame is a very flexible craft and picking the right rope for your next project to achieving the best result. A tough rope that is difficult to work with is no fun and we have lovely soft Thick Twisted Cotton Macrame Rope that is a treat to work with.
