Wanting to learn how to make Macrame? I will be running Macrame Workshops in 2016 from the Middle Aisle Studio in Thornbury.

Macrame is a textile art that uses knots rather than weaving or knitting. You can create beautiful patterns for wall hangings or as a 3D structure to hold things like pots and bowls for plants to hang out in. Whilst most people will remember it as very retro 70’s craft it is actually much older! The Victorians were really into it too.

I have always loved making things with my hands and there is something very satisfying and rewarding about learning a new skill. Macrame is a very tactile and fun process. It is creating something beautiful out of what appears to be a simple strand of cotton rope. We use a natural cotton rope in the class which complements any plant and pot you would like to put in it. It knots perfectly and is a strong and versatile material.

I’ll be running two workshops! A morning macrame plant hanger session and afternoon macrame wall hanging workshop.

In my morning workshop you will learn how to make a very handy macrame plant hanger.

In the afternoon class you will learn how to make a beautiful wall hanging.

Classes run for 2.5 hours and there is tea and coffee for everyone to have whilst they knot away. I like to keep my class sizes small so places are limited to ensure everyone has a great time and gets all the help they need.

If you’ve always wanted to learn how make Macrame or have just discovered this craft and want to try, I’d love to have you for in one of my macrame workshops.

New workshops are constantly updated and will be available via our booking website!

Please email workshops@themiddleaisle.com.au to book your place in the Macrame plant hanger workshop.
Perhaps you might know someone who would love this as a gift?

If you have any questions please feel free to send me through a message.
Maggie xx
